A Protected Investment

If your needs grow into a more scalable solution for many distributed locations that need to feed to a centralized management console, you can build on your investment in VPM Xpress by reallocating the solution into a larger Visual Performance Manager deployment to meet your needs.

Key Capabilities

  • Quickly identify the problem domain – application, network or server
  • Monitor critical n-tier application response time from the data center to the end user
  • First alert insight into performance degradations based on automated baselines or pre-set baselines that align to SLA criteria
  • Simple three click workflow model provides peak to transaction to packet analysis for root cause identification
  • Correlation of client performance with detailed application server metrics
  • Instant and scheduled reporting with both standard templates and customizable options
  • Manage VoIP with conversation views and granularity down to the TOS settings of your VoIP application to ensure correct class of service configuration
  • Measure application performance impact due to WAN optimization. Then provide insight into the effectiveness of Cisco WAAS with respect to bandwidth and traffic volume reduction, and improved end user response time.
  • All flow records, all the fields, all the time – no data aggregation, rollup or “top 10” views means unsurpassed depth of visibility.

Simple and intuitive views into Client vs. Site Response Time aids in problem domain identification

WAN Optimization views provide visibility into specific applications or all applications such as this example which provides an overview of site optimization, application usage and traffic mix with pass-through detail.

Typical Deployment Model

This example shows a typical deployment of VPM Xpress. The depth of visibility it provides with views into application response time, transactions to packets, network and site performance. Users can even get down to client and server level visibility.

End User Experience Like No Other

VPM Xpress provides in-depth cause and effect visibility with correlated application and network response time analytics demonstrating how application performance degradation impacts end user experience.

When application performance issues arise, take troubleshooting to the next level with IntelliTrace™, a patented peak to transaction to packet analysis engine that provides root cause identification, unmatched in the industry.

IntelliTrace™ Feature - Click on an offending transaction and get simple, intuitive views that clearly identify the problem down to network, server or applications.

At a glance actionable visibility – this view summarizes end-user response time of mission critical applications, slowest sites and servers.

No need to set up a packet capture device, wait for the problem to occur again, then pull in your packet analysis expert. Those days are gone. Simply click on the offending transaction and IntelliTrace provides you with simple and intuitive views that clearly identify if the problem is in the network, server or application.

If the application is at fault, IntelliTrace displays the calls the application made during the event that caused the degradation and the application development team can use that data to resolve the event. View more information on application performance capabilities.

VoIP Performance Management

VPM Xpress can quickly identify VoIP performance problems due to misconfigured MPLS classes of services. This NetFlow based capability can report on ALL fields in a NetFlow record and is able to isolate one class of service in an MPLS deployment to see which protocols are running. This allows you to verify that a router is either properly or improperly configured.

With the use of an optional Analysis Service Element (ASE), VPM Xpress can also provide per-call MOS measurements and network SLA measurements such as availability, jitter and latency. Administrators can quickly gain visibility into VolP performance and identify poor call quality. View more information on VoIP capabilities.

Identify individual VoIP calls and measure key performance statistics including MOS.
